Acceptance

Acceptance is not resignation or defeat.

Acceptance facilitates our end to struggling with life,

carries us beyond our expectations,

allows us to reclaim our feelings and fate,

and moves us into the fullness of joy.

When we accept and forgive,

we become our own liberator."

~ Dalai Lama

I like what the Dalai Lama says about acceptance, it is not resignation or defeat. It is seeing things clearly and accepting them for what they are. From here we can make more conscious choices as to how we may respond.

Resisting reality always brings suffering. Things are often not as we prefer; acceptance brings peace and equanimity. Often, we choose to pretend things are more amenable and agreeable than they really are. We don’t inquire or contemplate deeply, and when things change or become blatantly self-evident, as they always do eventually, we lament and complain. Lamentation momentarily serves our bruised ego as we awaken from delusion, but it doesn’t solve the predicament and feeds a powerless mentality.

To gain agency, to respond effectively, we must commit ourselves to seeing things as clearly as possible from a neutral place. Things are neither good nor bad, they simply are. The vast progress of humanity has come through our amazing ability to solve problems, especially when we come together to do so.

Reach out to friends and family. Our mission is to wake up! See things clearly; support each other with kindness and compassion; and then decide together how to proceed.

Looking forward to seeing you.

With love and respect.

Always,

Greg
